They protect PP and PET tapes from rupturing. This is especially topical when transporting the goods with sharp edges, because in motion the tape rubs against the edge and that can lead to its damage and, consequently to rupture.
They protect the bends of the package from excessive tension of the plastic belt, preventing its deformation (especially when operating with corrugated cardboard). This happens by means of distributing the pressure over a larger area of the packed surface.
They limit the movement of the belt over a cargo, which may be caused by a slight weakening of belt’s tension.
